Our Team
Jim DelPrete
President and Owner
Hello, my name is Jim and I am the owner and founder of Beantown Home Improvements. I come from a long line of builders so to say that the trades are in my blood would be an understatement. My Grandfather had one of the largest construction companies in Massachusetts back in the 1930’s building homes and roads on the South Shore and was well known and respected. His 12 kids worked for him while going to school and eventually David, Mary, Patsy and my father Paul started their own companies to build residential homes. After high school I went to college at Plymouth State College to get my BS in Environmental Science and Chemistry and worked in the Hazardous Materials field on the big dig. Eventually, I followed suit and started Beantown with the desire of doing remodeling work.
My business goal was simple, Just be me. I’m a straight shooter, I call it like I see it, and firmly believe that no one likes to be sold! My goal is to be up front and honest with every client, earn your respect, and offer outstanding customer service without the BS.
On a more personal note, I love to camp with my other half Janice Wilson, who also works with me as my Office Manager. The only child I have is my stepson Stephen. I’m a Master SCUBA Diver, love wookworking, playing billiards competitively, traveling, and I hold a Black Belt in Krav Maga and Muay Thai Kickboxing. More than anything else, I absolutely love to fish. Fishing the Amazon for Peacock Bass has been the best thus far!
Janice Wilson
Office Manager
Hello, my name is Janice and I work behind the scenes here at Beantown Home Improvements. I don’t get to play out in the field much, so you will probably meet me over the phone or by email. I’ve been at Beantown Home Improvements since opening our doors and have been with Jim much longer. For over 14 years I proudly served as an EMT for Bostom EMS working in Mattapan and Dorchester until my career was sidelined by an injury. I never thought I’d work in an office. However, when Jim started Beantown and I saw his passion for doing what he loved, I wanted to support him and here I am. I am proud in what Beantown has become and I am glad to be a part of it both professionally and personally. As we have grown, we have brought on a great group of people to work with and we are all like a big family, both in and out of work. I do have one son Stephen who I am proud to say is a Paramedic/Firefighter on the South Shore. In my free time I love watching all of the children for those who work for us and love fishing and traveling the world with Jim. We also have one small dog Quorra who is always in the office with us.
James Yaitanes
General Manager
Hello, my name is James Yaitanes, I’m the General Manager here at Beantown Home Improvement. I first developed a passion for working with my hands when I was growing up and had the opportunity to watch and work on various projects at home with my Dad and my Papou (Grandfather). Now that I have my own children, being able to teach them and pass on my knowledge and passion while working on projects together is so rewarding. I’m a proud graduate of Stoughton High School, after which I attended Massasoit Community College, followed by Bridgewater State University, where I completed a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice degree. I spent 14 years in the financial world working for Citizens Bank. Throughout my time there, I held various roles, starting out as a Teller and eventually working my way up to Vice President Regional Manager. I have a beautiful family that fills the rest of my time. My daughter Sophie is a budding athlete and has a love for Drama. My son Sterling is on his way to being the next big comedian, but is also showing a love for basketball. My wife Astrid has spent almost 20 years in the Hospitality Industry where she currently works as a Private Events associate. In my spare time, I enjoy coaching my kids in both basketball and soccer and am currently on the board of directors for Raynham Youth Soccer. I bleed green (Go Celtics!) and have an extreme love for Christmas. I look forward to working with and helping our clients achieve the homes of their dreams.
Derek Straughn
Project Manager – Roofing
As a lifelong native of the South Shore of Massachusetts and a graduate of South Shore Vocational Technical High-school I’ve been involved with the trades for many, many years. From my days in shop class to my first years on the job site I’ve learned many things over the years. This, along with my time in the region gives me a great understanding of how the ever-changing weather can affect your home. I use this knowledge when assessing what needs and requirements are necessary for your home when I come out and do a site inspection. Beyond working for Beantown Home Improvements I’m a dedicated parent and a family man. You can catch me at the Garden for a Bruins game or at Gillette Stadium rooting on our New England teams. I take pride in helping families achieve the visions they have for their property and look forward to sharing a common goal to make your house the talk of the neighborhood!!
Meryle Anderson
Office Administrator
Hi! My name is Meryle Anderson and I am the Office Administrator working in the Beantown office. I grew up in Harrison, NY and have lived locally in Middleboro for the past 30 years.
My background has always revolved around customer service, working previously as a college advisor and campus coordinator for 20 years, and more recently working remotely for 2 different online companies as a Customer Experience Specialist. I’m excited to transition to a new field and learn all about home improvement!
I’m the mom of 3 boys (now men) and have 3 grandkids who I love spending time with when I can.
Outside of work, I can be found in my garden, kayaking, or out on a dog hike. My partner, Rich and I currently live with 2 rescue pups and 2 cats. I also enjoy volunteering at the Middleboro Animal Shelter when I have spare time to walk and help socialize the dogs there.
My interest in home improvement has been lifelong. I grew up with a dad who could build and fix absolutely anything. He was self taught and an outside of the box thinker. The sound of a table saw and smell of lumber is one of my earliest childhood memories. I know he’d be happy that I’ve joined such a great company and I’m excited to learn all that I can here!

Jim Ewell
Installation Manager – Siding, Windows & Doors
Hello, my name is Jim Ewell, I am an Install Manager with Beantown Home Improvements. For the past 25 years I have been working in the construction field mostly on the residential side of things building new custom homes and additions from frame to finish.
My love for building started at a very young age with my father doing projects around the house. I was always right by his side eagerly watching, learning and waiting for my next assignment. I would go on to get my first summer job with a local Contractor and was lucky enough to learn from guys that took great pride in their work.
I had my own business for over 5 years, focusing on remodels and finish work. For the past year I have been working solo, which was rewarding, but has also become very tiresome. After speaking with my Cousin Jim DelPrete about his company, we both agreed that it would be best that I stop working alone and join the Beantown family. I am proud to be a part of this wonderful team and look forward to working with you.

Patrick Kelly
Lead Carpenter – Decking
Ever since I was a child, I’ve found the most rewarding work to be craftsmanship. After
receiving my Associate’s Degree in Architecture from Massasoit Community College, I decided architecture wasn’t for me, I wanted to work with my hands. I wanted to build. I went on to receive my Diploma for Cabinet and Furniture Making, from The North Bennet Street School in Boston, MA. Which got my foot in the door working as a Technician for the College of Industrial Design at Wentworth Institute of Technology. In the 8yrs I worked there, I was granted the opportunity to train hundreds of students in Woodshop and Metal Working, while providing myself proficiency in the use and maintenance of tools and equipment, including CNC and 3D printing technology. It’s always been my firm belief that every job is a customer service job. The work people do, whatever it may be, is how they serve their community and contribute to society. I carry this belief with me to every job, knowing that pride in my work, is pride in myself. Working for Beantown Home Improvements, I’m given an opportunity to keep myself at a high standard of Craftsmanship, while working alongside some of the best craftsmen and friendliest people I have known.
